The Alliance for Health Equity (AHE) today announced $350,000 in seed funding awarded to 16 nonprofit organizations selected through its 2026–27 Seed-And-Scale Match Fund, a major investment in organizations working to advance health equity across the Greater Coatesville community. With community and donor support, every dollar can be matched, tripling each organization’s award and growing the fund’s total impact to as much as $1,050,000. 

The grantees were revealed on Saturday, August 1, at AHE’s free community block party at AHE’s Brandywine Center, where 350+ community members came out to celebrate. The event kicked off a year of celebrations in honor of AHE’s 25th anniversary, alongside the first birthday of Union Community Care, the Federally Qualified Health Center that has served as the Brandywine Center’s primary healthcare provider since July 2025.

Health Access: 

• Union Community Care: Expanding Comprehensive School-Based Health Services to Improve Student Health and Academic Outcomes in the Coatesville Area School District – $15,000 

• Maternal and Child Health Consortium: Family Connect and Resource Navigation Hub – $10,000 

Education Access: 

• Educational Equity Alliance: Scaling Early Childhood and Expanded Learning Programs at Coatesville Kids to College – $35,000 

• Crime Victims Center of Chester County: Prevention Education (Project SELFIE) – $10,000 

• Chester County OIC:  Workforce Reintegration Program – $40,000 

• Coatesville Youth Initiative: Coatesville Youth Workforce Pipeline Initiative – $25,000 

Economic Stability: 

• Open Hearth, Inc.: Family Savings Partner Program & Volunteer Income Tax Assistance – $35,000 

• Mitzvah Circle: Critical Needs for Healthy Families, Diaper Bank, and Period Supply – $10,000 

• Community Warehouse Project of Chester County: Household Furnishings for Coatesville Residents – $10,000 

• Coatesville Center for Community Health: Staffing for Sustainability – $15,000 

Social & Community Context:  

• Max’s Kicks for Kids: Max’s Shoe Closets – $15,000 

• The Parkesburg Point: POINT School Based Outreach to Coatesville Area School District – $20,000 

• Domestic Violence Center of Chester County: Coatesville Area Outreach Office Community of Care – $20,000 

Neighborhood & Environment: 

• The Bridge Academy: Foundations & Futures Program: Strengthening Today. Shaping Tomorrow – $30,000 

• Believe & Achieve Foundation: B&A Boost and B&A Farm Fresh Market – $20,000 

• Friends Association: 5 STEPS to Self-Sufficient Housing – $40,000 

Together, these 16 organizations will reach families and individuals across Coatesville through school-based health services, workforce training, emergency housing support, food access, youth programming, and more.

A Community Celebration  

Beyond the grant announcement, Saturday’s block party brought the Coatesville community together for a full day of celebration. Attendees enjoyed live music from DJ Dre Money, browsed more than 25 local vendors, and took part in a community vote awarding $500 to a nonprofit chosen by the crowd. AHE gave away kitchen items and distributed 100 free LeakAlertors to households, while kids enjoyed a Ninja Warrior course, a Velcro wall, face painting, rock painting, and more.
