New Name & Look, Same Commitment to Better Serve our Community

Dear Community,

For 20 years, we’ve supported local nonprofit organizations to address health equity issues among communities that need it most. But times are changing. And so are we.

The Brandywine Health Foundation is proud to launch a brand new name, logo, and an entirely new look as part of our ongoing evolution. Introducing The Alliance for Health Equity; Strengthening Communities!

This marks a significant milestone in our 20-year journey, providing an opportunity to reflect on everything that the original Brandywine Health Foundation brand and mission stood for—and everything that we aspire to become as we move forward into an exciting future.

How We Got Here

Since our founding in 2001, we have experienced incredible growth. But today, there is so much more we can and should do to address the decades of inequities and inequality in our communities. Over the last year, we have never been so sure. The pandemic has shown us the fragility of our disparately impacted communities. We are now taking the opportunity to evolve our brand to better communicate the work needed now and into the future to aspire to our vision of a thriving, inclusive and healthy community for all.

Our mission “to advance a more equitable, resilient, and healthy Greater Coatesville” will remain the same—but how we carry out our mission will change, by tackling tough and often uncomfortable complex social issues that get in the way for all people to attain optimal health and prosperity.

Our new focus allows us to better reflect the way community deserves to be supported with fairness, intentionality, and inclusiveness. We are excited to humbly walk alongside all of our partners to co-create transformative community investments and initiatives that get at the root cause of generational poverty, health disparities and inequities. And we believe the best way to do that is to explicitly listen, learn and lead with equity in everything we do, from our trust-based philanthropy, mission aligned investing, to community-participatory programming.

The New Brand

The Alliance for Health Equity’s new brand is driven by this deep examination of who we are, and what we do. Our new logo and visual identity are inspired by our guiding principles and values—namely our commitment to health, economic, gender and racial equity, as well as the transformation of our community’s overall health.

Toni Ruth’s 2019 Addressing Imbalance says, “Equity is a solution for addressing imbalanced social systems.” And our new name, tagline and logo design represent this fundamental value of equity: We cannot achieve equity until we recognize that each person has different circumstances and, therefore, unique needs. In order to reach an equal outcome for all, it is imperative that we meet those individual needs with the right resources and opportunities.

As The Alliance for Health Equity, we look forward to continuing our dynamic and unwavering commitment to the community and social impact—not only by helping residents build power to shape decisions that affect the health of their families and communities, but by also ensuring our investments have greater impact and create a brighter future for those most in need.

While there is much excitement around our new look and name, The Alliance for Health Equity; Strengthening Communities, I am sure you have questions for us! We encourage you to reach out to us at so that we may answer all your questions.

Yours in health,

Vanessa B. Briggs
