There is so much excitement and energy about the present and future of Coatesville! It makes me grateful to join an organization that has a trustworthy legacy of supporting the community. During this period of transition at The Alliance (a new name, a new logo, and a new CEO), the heart of what we do continues to be facilitating and supporting residents in their ever-improving health and wellbeing of the Greater Coatesville area.

As I jump in mid-year, my initial period of learning has included attending numerous community events from the NAACP’s 60th Freedom Fund Gala to the Chester County Community Foundation’s annual event. I have met with leaders like Joyce Chester from OIC to learn about the legacy of workforce development in the community. I literally bumped into Bill Pierce during a self-guided walking tour of the city. He and his team were cleaning up after a community meal at Brandywine Valley Active Aging.

As The Alliance for Health Equity moves into 2024, I am grateful for the gift of time so many of you have provided me. It has given me the opportunity to gain an understanding of the Brandywine Health Foundation and what it meant to this community. I am also hearing from the community about ways The Alliance could continue its contributions to Greater Coatesville. There are exciting things happening, new horizons to pursue, and new opportunities in the offing. I’m impressed with the body of work that already exists. I am humbled to be a participant in its future endeavors.

Board Chair
The Alliance for Health Equity

Community, impact, and transition are all concepts that have been the focus of TheAlliance for Health Equity’s work throughout 2022 and into 2023. Without question, the City of Coatesville and its surrounding municipalities are full of creativity, innovation, and positive energy.

In 2022, The Alliance partnered with the community to conduct a Let’sTalk series to learn from its residents and community service providers about vital needs. Community members shared ideas and opportunities about how to stimulate growth in several areas that support the social determinants of health including: affordable housing, access to living wages, healthy food access, educational support, and medical/ behavioral health services.

Together with the City of Coatesville, Chester County, and community service partners, The Alliance looks forward to building on this work and evaluating other opportunities to have a financial impact beyond traditional grant-making.We are delighted to welcome new board members: Charrisse Allen, Debbie Bookman, Ricky Campbell, Joshua Maxwell and Stacie Metz as well as new President/Chief Executive Officer, Kevin Ressler, to our team. They all bring a depth of experience and background that we are confident will assist The Alliance for Health Equity in working with the community to build a healthy and thriving Coatesville.
