Home of the Sparrow focuses on assisting older women aged 60 and above in the Greater Coatesville Area who struggle to afford their current housing due to low, fixed incomes, insufficient family support, and often chronic health conditions. Many of these women are either eligible for Section 8 housing vouchers or on waiting lists for subsidized housing. However, with the depletion of ERAP funds, rising rents have intensified their financial challenges. 

To address these issues, Home of the Sparrow has launched the Pre-Senior Bridge Housing II program. This initiative, funded by the Seed-and-Scale Match Fund, provides rental subsidies to support these women until they receive housing vouchers or can reduce their expenses. The organization plans to partner with Brandywine Valley Active Aging – Coatesville Campus to identify individuals in need, acknowledging the increasing demand for such assistance. 

Preliminary assessments reveal an average monthly rent shortfall of $300 per woman. To address this, the program budget includes an additional $50 per month per woman to cover essential expenses, ensuring comprehensive support for those affected. 

$15,000 in donations will be matched DOLLAR-FOR-DOLLAR by The Alliance for Health Equity.
